ADB’s Call for Increased Merchant Adoption
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) recently emphasized the need for more merchants to embrace digital payments. This shift is crucial as the region faces significant challenges, particularly in funding solutions for climate change. ADB estimates that the Asia-Pacific region needs about $1.1 trillion annually to effectively combat climate issues, yet only $300 billion is currently available.
To bridge this funding gap, ADB advocates for enhanced integration of digital payment systems among merchants. By facilitating easier transactions, they aim to boost economic activity and improve access to necessary resources for climate initiatives.
