Honoring Women’s Courage on International Women’s Day

On 11 March, the European Parliament celebrated International Women’s Day with distinguished guests from Belarus and Ukraine. Among the attendees were notable figures like Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, Leniie Umerova, and Tata Kepler. In her opening remarks, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola emphasized the need to honor the brave women throughout Europe who fight for fundamental values.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, a leader for Belarus’ democratic forces, expressed gratitude towards the EU and its member states. She reminded everyone of the ongoing struggle for the release of political prisoners and the need to continue supporting Belarusian civil society and media.
