Addressing Hunger, Poverty, and Development

Prime Minister Madbouli called on global leaders to attend the upcoming Cairo Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza. He drew attention to the devastating famine in Gaza, stressing that conflicts continue to deprive people of their basic rights. Madbouli pointed out that over two billion people suffer from food insecurity worldwide, and one in five Africans faces hunger daily. He stressed the need for urgent reform of the global financial system and stronger international economic governance to tackle these issues.

Madbouli also showcased Egypt’s social protection programs, including the Takaful and Karama program which provides monthly cash assistance to over seven million families, and the Decent Life (Haya Karima) initiative aimed at uplifting Egypt’s rural communities. He mentioned the national silos project, which increased Egypt’s wheat storage capacity, and collaborations with the World Food Programme and the FAO to enhance food security and establish a global grain storage hub.

The Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty

The Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty (GAHP), launched under Brazil’s G20 presidency, brings together over 140 members to accelerate the fight against hunger and extreme poverty. Egypt’s active role in these efforts reflects its dedication to sustainable development and regional stability.
