Google has announced a significant update for its upcoming Pixel 10 devices. The new Pixel 10 smartphones will be the first to natively integrate industry-standard C2PA Content Credentials within their camera app. This means every photo taken with the Pixel Camera, whether enhanced by AI or not, will automatically include tamper-evident metadata that confirms the authenticity and origin of the image.
What Are Content Credentials?
Content Credentials, developed in collaboration with Adobe and the C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity), help users verify if an image is original, edited, or AI-generated. This technology gives people confidence in the media they capture and share. It also sets a new standard for transparency and trust in digital photography.
Wider Rollout on Android and iOS
Google plans to gradually expand this feature to more Android and iOS devices in the coming weeks. By embedding these credentials, users and viewers can easily check the authenticity of any photo, helping to combat misinformation and protect creative work.
