NASA and GLOBE: Bringing Science Down to Earth
NASA and the GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) program are teaming up to connect people, land, and space in the most engaging ways possible. Their latest initiative brings elementary school students outside, away from their screens, and gets them gazing at clouds instead of just cloud storage! Recently, a group of curious kids gathered outside the Oldham County Public Library in La Grange, Kentucky, to observe the sky, learning how what’s above us links to what’s happening on our planet.

Hands-On Learning with a Sky-High Perspective
This program doesn’t just teach science—it activates it. The kids become mini meteorologists, noting cloud types and patterns, while understanding how these observations help NASA study Earth’s systems. Such activities spark curiosity and might just inspire the next generation of space explorers or weather experts. Who knew the path to the stars started with a glance at a cumulus cloud?
Isn’t it refreshing to see children looking up from their tablets and literally looking up at the sky? With NASA and GLOBE, learning reaches new heights—sometimes quite literally! If you ask us, science is way more fun when you’re allowed to go outside and get a little cloud-crazy.
