Recent Developments on India-Pakistan Relations
In a significant diplomatic conversation, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to address the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. This dialogue follows the devastating Pahalgam terror attack that tragically took the lives of 26 individuals. The officials focused on the urgent need for a resolution amidst rising hostilities.
During their discussion, Lavrov emphasized the importance of bilateral resolutions, referencing the Simla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration as frameworks for peace. In response to the attack, India has initiated diplomatic measures aimed at holding the perpetrators accountable. Jaishankar reiterated India’s commitment to justice and also highlighted avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation with Russia.
