WHO/Europe has announced an exciting opportunity for individuals and organizations to join its new Knowledge Community (KC) on responsible artificial intelligence (AI) in health. This initiative seeks experts and stakeholders from across the region—including representatives from Member States, NGOs, academic institutions, the private sector, and more—to collaborate on the ethical and sustainable integration of AI into health systems.
What Is the Knowledge Community About?
The KC focuses on practical and policy-relevant questions around responsible AI in health. Participants will explore how to ensure AI is both ethically sound and economically sustainable, aiming to improve health outcomes and optimize resource use. Over five weeks, starting in October 2025, members will dive into weekly sub-themes through a secure online platform, discussing WHO documents and open-access scientific literature.
WHO moderators will guide the conversation, encouraging engaging and meaningful exchanges. Insights gathered during these sessions will be summarized in a report published on the WHO/Europe website under Chatham House Rule, ensuring confidentiality of individual contributions.
Why Participate?
This initiative supports the WHO European Region digital health action plan and aligns with the EU’s broader mission to strengthen health information systems and data governance. By joining the KC, you’ll contribute to cross-sectoral collaboration, help shape responsible AI policies, and support equitable, effective use of health data in line with the European Health Data Space (EHDS) principles.
Applications are open until 19 September 2025. For more details or to apply, check the official announcement.
