Microsoft’s AI chief, Mustafa Suleyman, has raised concerns about the increasing number of cases being described as ‘AI psychosis’. According to recent reports, some people believe their mental health is being affected by artificial intelligence tools, leading to troubling psychological episodes. Suleyman emphasized that, despite the growing worries, there is currently “zero evidence of AI consciousness today”. This means that while AI can mimic human conversation and behavior, it does not possess self-awareness or emotions.
What is ‘AI Psychosis’?
Some mental health professionals have started to notice an uptick in cases where people claim to be negatively influenced by AI, sometimes believing that these tools are targeting or communicating with them in harmful ways.
