Two Decades of Change
After spending twenty years away, I am excited yet bewildered to celebrate my first Halloween back in the UK. My children, raised on American traditions, eagerly anticipate the festivities. However, their excitement quickly fades as they encounter the local Halloween atmosphere.
Comparing Halloween Traditions
While spending on costumes and treats has grown in Britain, the creativity and commitment to the holiday don’t quite measure up to American standards. My kids search for the elaborate decorations and unique costumes that they remember from back home. Instead, they find a different vibe here that leaves them feeling underwhelmed. As we navigate through this Halloween, I find myself reminiscing about the colorful and spirited celebrations we’ve left behind.
