NASA’s Overtime Policy for Astronauts
NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore recently faced an unexpected situation during their mission on the International Space Station. Despite their extended stay, they do not receive overtime pay due to NASA’s established rules. This policy applies even when missions last longer than planned.
However, astronauts do receive a small allowance of $5 a day to cover incidental expenses. This amount helps them manage minor costs while they are in orbit, although it pales in comparison to typical overtime compensation.
