Pakistan’s IT Ministry Advocates Against Hasty AI Regulations

ISLAMABAD — A Call for Caution

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has voiced its opposition to the swift regulation of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Officials argue that the development of a regulatory body is premature since the country’s AI ecosystem is still in its early stages. They believe that imposing regulations now may hinder innovation and growth in this budding sector.

According to documents reviewed by TechJuice, the Senate Secretariat has been involved in discussions regarding the need for a regulatory body. However, MoITT emphasizes that it is crucial to foster a supportive environment for AI development before introducing restrictive measures.
