Yilan County Faces Heavy Flooding as Tropical Storm Fung-wong Hits
Yilan County in northeast Taiwan is reeling from severe flooding and erosion after the outer circulation of Tropical Storm Fung-wong battered the region. The storm, which struck on November 12, 2025, unleashed torrential rain, swelling rivers and causing water to surge into streets and homes. Residents scrambled to protect their properties, while local authorities worked around the clock to manage floodwaters and prevent further damage.
Communities Band Together Amid Flooding Crisis
Emergency teams and local volunteers have come together to support those affected. Many people have been forced to evacuate, and roads remain submerged, making travel dangerous. While the government has issued warnings and provided shelter for displaced families, the community’s resilience is on full display. Let’s hope Yilan’s next tourist slogan isn’t “Bring Your Own Canoe.”
If you’re in the area, stay tuned to local updates and stay safe. For the rest of us, maybe it’s time to invest in those waterproof boots—we’re not saying we’re jealous of the rain, but at least we don’t have to water our plants!
