This innovative technique does not require the parental genomes for analysis. Instead, it relies on data from 286,666 UK Biobank participants.
The researchers identified over 30 parent-of-origin effects on various traits, including growth, metabolism, and diabetes. Remarkably, many of these traits exhibited opposite effects depending on whether they were inherited from the mother or the father.
