UNRWA Head Calls Out Global Silence on Gaza Crisis
Philippe Lazzarini, chief of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), has strongly criticized the world’s ongoing indifference and inaction regarding the dire situation in Gaza. He stressed the urgent need for immediate protection for journalists, health professionals, and aid workers who face extreme risks every day while trying to help civilians.
Urgent Appeal for Protection in Conflict Zones
Lazzarini highlighted the critical roles that journalists, medical staff, and humanitarian workers play in Gaza, noting that these groups have become frequent targets in the ongoing conflict. He called on the international community to step up and provide tangible support, rather than just words, to safeguard these essential workers. The UNRWA chief emphasized that without global intervention, the safety and effectiveness of those delivering aid will continue to be compromised.
He urged world leaders to break their silence and take real action to protect vulnerable populations and those who risk everything to help them.
