UNRWA Chief Raises Alarm Over Gaza City’s Malnourished Children
Philippe Lazzarini, head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), has issued a dire warning regarding the ongoing operations in Gaza City. According to Lazzarini, child malnutrition rates in the city have spiked dramatically, increasing six-fold since March. This alarming trend underscores the deepening humanitarian crisis in the region.
Lazzarini cautioned that continued military operations could ‘condemn’ thousands of already vulnerable children to even greater suffering, as dwindling food supplies and blocked humanitarian aid make it nearly impossible for families to meet basic nutritional needs. He emphasized the urgent need for unrestricted humanitarian access and called on all parties to prioritize the safety and well-being of children above military objectives.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Gaza
The situation in Gaza City has rapidly deteriorated, with malnutrition and hunger reaching unprecedented levels. UN agencies and aid workers are sounding the alarm, urging global attention and immediate action to prevent a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe. As the crisis unfolds, the world watches anxiously, hoping for solutions that protect the most vulnerable—especially the children of Gaza.
