WHO Warns of Rising Malnutrition Rates in Gaza: Urgent Action Needed

Critical Malnutrition Crisis in Gaza

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised alarms over the dramatic rise in malnutrition rates in the Gaza Strip. This urgent situation has led to a staggering increase in malnutrition-related deaths, particularly in July 2025. Out of a total of 74 deaths linked to malnutrition this year, 63 occurred in July alone. Among these tragic losses were 24 children under the age of five, highlighting the severe impact on the youngest and most vulnerable.

Most victims were critically ill upon arrival at health facilities or succumbed shortly after, with their bodies exhibiting clear signs of severe wasting. This alarming trend calls for immediate attention and intervention from local and international organizations to address the growing humanitarian crisis.

Urgent Need for Intervention

The increase in malnutrition raises significant concerns about health, nutrition, and the overall well-being of the population in Gaza. The WHO emphasizes the need for an urgent response to prevent further loss of life and to ensure that affected individuals receive the necessary care and support.
