Integrating AI, Sports, and Fitness for Kids’ Health
The Universal Sports for Social Impact (USSI) project is transforming the way children in Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro experience fitness and health. By blending martial arts like judo with modern technology and specialized modules, USSI helps children—including those with visual impairments or developmental challenges—build coordination, confidence, and social skills. Coaches and educators use these modules to create inclusive environments that focus on discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. The program also supports children with cerebral palsy, ADHD, and other conditions, delivering tailored exercises and playful, therapeutic activities that encourage every child to reach their potential.
Data-Driven Fitness: The Role of Artificial Intelligence
ASSA, the Albanian Association of Sports Sciences, is at the forefront of leveraging AI and fitness monitoring systems to better understand children’s physical abilities. By partnering in the EUFITMOS project, they have collected valuable data from 1,800 schoolchildren, analyzing parameters like strength, agility, and endurance. These insights reveal both strengths and challenges—such as cardiorespiratory issues and rising obesity rates—and inform new strategies for health improvement. The upcoming i4EUFITMOS platform will use intelligent digital tools to support parents, teachers, and policymakers with user-friendly apps, helping them make smarter decisions about children’s health and fitness.
Promoting Healthy Lifestyles for the Next Generation
Supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, these initiatives are paving the way for a healthier, more active youth across the Balkans. By combining inclusive sports training, scientific data, and digital innovation, children of all abilities can thrive physically, mentally, and socially.
